Through a conjunction of geological and hydrographical phenomena, nature can sometimes offer us some truly wonderful sights. This point is perfectly illustrated by the Courant d’Huchet. With its source in the Étang de Léon in the southern Landes, this tiny river, just 9km long, meanders through a few hectares of forest before butting up against the sand dunes of the Atlantic coast; its passage thus blocked, the stream then heads due south, passing underneath the dunes and flowing out into the ocean 2 kilometres away.

Treated in the form of a correspondence with a departed friend, this romantic film introduces us to the ever-changing landscapes of this amazing place through fishing; from Lake Léon with its predatory black bass and pikeperch, to the sea bass, plaice and mullet at the river’s mouth, we meet the local characters who shared their passion and their sometimes ancient techniques with Laurent. We also learn about the many fragile ecosystems, each with their own particularities, that fit together so perfectly in this tiny space.
