Three years ago, Richard Berthaud dropped everything to embark upon a very unusual venture: the defence of hunting on social networks. And in this time of extremely violent attacks by extreme anti-hunting groups, the voice of Richard sur Terre has emerged as something out of the ordinary, offering another view of nature in opposition to animalism.
A cliché-buster and populariser, who is at the same time passionate about philosophy and literature, his message is crystal clear. One after the other, on YouTube or on his Facebook and Instagram pages, he strives to dismantle his opponents’ arguments. Richard responds to the accusations made against hunting and its followers with force, common sense and sometimes poetry.
To construct his highly effective arguments and to support his thinking, he responds to the questions put to him every day by his partner, who has no knowledge of this world. He draws inspiration from other hunters and by going out hunting on his own. He then crafts his answers and organises his thoughts to make them accessible to everyone.
Richard sur Terre is a partisan documentary, the manifesto of a new attitude to hunting, the portrait of a courageous man who, despite the threats, is constructing an argument against the “right-thinking” anti-speciesism which seems to be gradually taking hold.
