DIVE INTO THE WORLD OF LOCALISM AND BIG WAVE SURFING WITH CÉDRIC GISCOS
Big wave surfing is one of the most impressive and risky surfing disciplines. It’s a sport in which there’s no room for error, demanding total commitment and optimal physical and mental preparation from its practitioners.
Among the surfers who face these giant waves, Cédric Giscos, who participated in the prestigious XXL Awards in 2018 with a wave surfed in Nazare, is one of the best in France.
“Looking for Balance” tells the story of this unconventional surfer, who decided to dedicate his life to chasing the big swells between France and Spain.
However, one day, during a session in the Basque Country, Cédric’s life changed for ever when he took one wave too many for the local surfers, who were angry at having to share their spot. A heated altercation broke out in the water, the violence of which drove him to put his athletic career on hold. His relentless quest for the adrenaline, in which he had drowned his anxieties, gave way to a search for meaning. Giving up the world of surfing to become a farmer, Cédric ultimately found his own values and a new balance in contact with the land.
But the ocean is never far away and the call of the waves is too strong! Perhaps the balance he really needs lies halfway between the land and the sea.
