Recognised by the Duke Ellington Music Society, musicians and major festivals alike as the best Ellingtonian orchestra performing today, the Laurent Mignard Duke Orchestra has struck the right note with its fans, attracting an ever-growing audience to such events as the “Musiques Sacrées” Festival, the Vienna Jazz Festival (with the Harlem Opera Choir), in Saint-Sulpice, Paris (with La Velle), the Cork Jazz Festival, in the “Far East Suite” in Beirut, in the “New Orleans Suite” with Rhoda Scott, on Radio France and in the Alhambra Paris.
Formed and led since 2003 by Laurent Mignard, the 15 members of this large ensemble explore the many facets of a Duke Ellington just waiting to be (re)discovered. Their approach is faithful, respectful, creative and enthusiastic, propelling the aesthetic and timeless values of the Duke into the present day. Never has a legacy been so full of life!
The Duke Orchestra has a vast repertoire and carries the flame of one of the greatest composers of the 20th century.
