SCHUBERT IN LOVE 50'  - 2007  - Karl More Productions
    Synopsis

Ballet "Schubert in love" by the Ballet d'Europe, filmed at the Théâtre des Salins, National Scene, in Martigues on January 11 and 12, 2007.

The Ballet of Europe performs "Schubert in love", on chamber music by Franz Schubert: "The Young Girl and Death", "Trio for piano, violin and cello No. 2" and "Nocturne for piano, violin and cello in E flat major" Op. 148 D897.

Succumbing to illness at a very young age, Franz Schubert managed through the force of his compositions to translate the relationship he maintained between love and pain: two themes omnipresent in his life and in his works.

His music, oscillating between torment and bliss, reflected his existence: an invitation to enjoy life and above all love to the full until his last breath.

With Schubert in Love, Jean-Charles Gil leads us inside the Austrian composer’s intense, private universe. The dancers invite us to travel with them through their dance on a journey dictated by encounters, in osmosis with the composer’s work, between classicism and romanticism, in search of the timeless. Following the first performance of this ballet at the Friche Belle de Mai in December 2004, here Jean-Charles Gil is presenting a more accomplished, tighter version of the piece, concentrating on the work - still based on the classical technique - that characterises his artistic approach.
