GRAND ODE TO SAINT CECILE, Henry Purcell – Ensemble La Fenice, Jean Tubéry 70'  - 2012  - Karl More Productions
    Synopsis

A pure masterpiece, “Hail! Bright Cecilia”, composed in celebration of Saint Cecilia, is also a wonderful representation of Purcell’s genius. Rich and varied, it’s a work within which the sacred and profane respectfully rub shoulders. As is often the case in Purcell’s music, euphoria is never very far removed from melancholy. Specialists in the repertoire, Jean Tubéry and La Fenice, bring it everything the work  demands: elegance, lightness, gravity and simplicity.
