Damien Boyer, a young explorer, pays a visit to the Wayana, one of the most isolated tribes living on the banks of the Maroni in French Guiana. Curious and passionate, Damien tries to find out how they reconcile modernity with tradition, while addressing the problems threatening the group’s sustainability today: alcohol, which is tearing tribal society apart, illegal gold mining, which is poisoning both people and animals, and the exodus of educated children, who dream of living elsewhere. Despite this, many Wayana have chosen to stay, to preserve and pass on the traditions that are the basis of their culture. It is by their side that Damien discovers some secrets.
