Children Like No Others: Their Fight to Get Through It 80'  - 2023  - Paramonti
    Synopsis

France has just under 12 million children. Some of them, from a very early age, already face major difficulties. Between extraordinary daily lives and unique moments, this documentary explores the lives of children who are doing everything they can to get through it.

    Codi, 8 years old

On the day of his birth, Anne-Sophie and her husband discover that their son Codi suffers from a rare disease: esophageal atresia, along with several associated malformations.

Today, Codi is 8 years old, and his parents have chosen to give him as “normal” a life as possible, despite a demanding medical protocol requiring oxygen therapy four times a day.

Anne-Sophie has made it her mission to fulfil her son’s dreams — such as travelling to the Netherlands to visit one of Europe’s largest skateparks, reflecting the boy’s passion.

    Luis, 6 years old

At just 6 years old, Luis has Down syndrome. His daily life is filled with speech therapy, physiotherapy, and psychomotor sessions.

Despite this, his family is determined to give him the most normal life possible. The little boy attends a mainstream preschool class — a daily challenge for him.

His mother Stéphanie has decided to help him improve his concentration, and in a few days they will try a new approach: animal-assisted therapy.

    Ali, 2 years old

Barely two years old, Ali has travelled thousands of kilometers from Niger to France to undergo heart surgery. Because of a malformation that cannot be treated in his home country, the little boy cannot live a normal life.

Thanks to the association Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, he will receive the operation free of charge and be welcomed for six weeks by Hélène, Jérémy and their four children. But adapting is not always easy.
