Cantu Nustrale offers an immersion into a raw, restrained and deeply rooted polyphonic tradition.
Founded in 2006, Cantu Nustrale brings together singers from diverse backgrounds, united by a desire to return to the roots of Corsican singing. The group champions an authentic approach to cantu in paghjella, which is inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Now consisting of three voices, the group favours an a cappella style of performance, free from artifice and faithful to the oral tradition. Its repertoire combines sacred, secular and contemporary songs, driven by a strong commitment to vocal balance and instinct.
The group has performed in Corsica and internationally, notably at several polyphonic music festivals.
