An alchemist of shadow and light, Henri Alekan was one of the most talented cinematographers of the twentieth century. He enhanced the lighting of numerous masterpieces ("The Battle of the Rails," "Wings of Desire," "Beauty and the Beast"...) and worked with some of the most prestigious directors, including Carne, Duvivier, Clement Cocteau, Allégret, Cayatte, Gance, Wyler, Losey, Dassin and Wenders.
A member of the French Resistance, activist and co-founder of IDHEC, the former puppeteer was also an inventor who never lost his childlike wonder of the world.
