Paris in summer 1841 : during a few weeks, richard Wagner influenced by Romantic Opera, composes Der fliegende Holländer, which he will consider as the first opera worthy of his quill. The version written in the French capital city - Wagner’s first version - was ordered by Paris Opera House, and finally refused by the director in those days. It was rarely played since.
