MANU DIBANGO: “Safari Symphonique” at the Grand Rex
90' - 2019 - ZYCOPOLIS Productions
Synopsis
MANU DIBANGO, one of our greatest musician and songwriter, developed a musical style fusing jazz, funk, and traditional Cameroonian music. Appointed a UNESCO Artist for Peace, he died of Covid-19 on 24 March 2020. Throughout his 60-year career, Manu Dibango has always sought to break down the boundaries between different styles of music.
Let’s pay tribute to him here in one of his last concerts, recorded in 2019 : a journey through the roots of black African music, a blend of traditional rhythms from his native Cameroon with a distinctly jazzy sound.
Manu Dibango is accompanied here by his "Soul Makossa Gang" and the Orchestre Lamoureux.
