Situated between Grenoble and Geneva, Annecy has a long and rich history. Today it’s known as the "Pearl of the French Alps", thanks to its lake and its exceptional location at the foot of the mountains.
Covering an area of 27km2, Lac d’Annecy is one of the largest lakes in France and one of the purest in Europe. For centuries, its shores were a scrubby marshland, before the town became a holiday destination for the English aristocracy in the 19th century: new hotels were built, inns sprang up and the whole of European high society came to enjoy the pleasures of the lake, romantic walks and mountain excursions.
Today, Annecy has been declared the best place to live in France, offering its residents an incomparable quality of life that combines sporting activities, respect for tradition and the pleasures of nature.
