Some songs never die: they keep getting better and better. American popular songs from the 1920s to the 1950s, born through Broadway musicals or Hollywood movies, belong to them.
Daniel Yvinec pursues his quest for a reinterpretation of America's great standards, evoking through "Broadway in Satin" the memory of Billie Holiday. As a brilliant and tormented performer, this huge artist sang these popular hits with so much personality, intensity and originality, that one could swear that she was their author.
While preserving the magnificent shapes of their melodies, the orchestra tackles a collection of emblematic songs performed by the diva ("God bless the child", "I am a fool to want you", "Strange fruit"...) with surprising orchestral colors -thus exploring new musical fields.
