Between 2014 and 2016, the most spectacular and emblematic areas of Chartres Cathedral will be restored: the 35m nave with its soaring walls and the windows framed within it, reputed to be the most beautiful in Europe. It’s an exceptional opportunity to take a closer look at this jewel of Gothic art and see its details in a totally new light.
This documentary goes behind the scenes of the restoration work and meets artisans, scientists, architects and curators in order to embrace a much larger question: what does the restoration of a heritage site involve today?
