Going backwards through time and constructed like a puzzle, this documentary is an exploration of the future of China through the works of four of the greatest Chinese filmmakers today, Wang Bing, Zhangke Jia, Wang Xiaoshuai and Zhang Yuan.
These filmmakers, who belong to the generation that came after the events of Tian Anmen Square, are inspired by a quest for reality, daring to do what their predecessors never attempted: express the present and past truth of their country, in a cinematic style that is all their own.
