COMOROS OTHERWISE : ECO-FORESTERS IN THE COMOROS
26' - 2006 - Kanari Films
Synopsis
Born in The Comoros, Bush finds his way every day through the forest, machete in his hand, in this hostile environment. The jungle, he knows it by heart.
Bush has dedicated himself to the preservation of a rare species of bats, Livingstone’s fruit bats. Around only 700 of them are still living today, 50 meters above the ground level, in the Moheli Island’s forest.
In his fight for the survival of the Livingstone’s fruit bats, he faces different challenges; local population lack of understanding of the issue, poachers, and a growing island population.
His personal engagement in the fight for the protection of the environment is now his job, being the first eco-forester of The Comoros.
