Dostoïevski, the Writer of Souls 52'  - 2025  - Crescendo Media Film
    Synopsis

A fascinating journey into the turbulent life of one of the greatest geniuses of world literature.

This documentary explores the life and work of Fyodor Dostoevsky through an intimate and spiritual lens. It retraces the hardships he endured—from his sentence to a Siberian prison camp to his lifelong struggle with gambling—and reveals how these experiences directly shaped his novels.

The film also highlights the profound connection between his thought, Orthodox Christianity, and the human condition, offering a deeply personal perspective on his characters and their quest for truth.

Arrested in 1849 for his political beliefs, the young Fyodor Dostoevsky narrowly escaped execution before being sent to a Siberian penal colony. This traumatic experience proved to be a decisive turning point in the Russian writer’s life, profoundly transforming his vision of the world and of humanity.

Through major works such as Notes from the House of the Dead, Notes from Underground, The Gambler, and Crime and Punishment, Dostoevsky explored the depths of the human soul and sought redemption through love.

His encounter with Anna Snitkina, who would become his second wife, helped him overcome his gambling addiction and enabled him to create his greatest masterpieces.
