HIRUNDO MARIS, Songs of South and North 96'  - 2015  - Karl More Productions
    Synopsis

Hirundo Maris is Latin for “sea swallow” and, like that bird’s nomadic flight, harpist Arianna Savall’s quintet – part early music ensemble, part folk group – drifts on musical currents between Norway and Catalonia.

In reference to the connections between the traditions that sea facilitated, this is a musical journey through time and space,  from one continent to another, from one period to another, alternating between traditional music (Sephardic, Catalan, Spanish, Celtic and Norwegian melodies) and own compositions of the Ensemble.

Concert recorded as part of the Bachwochen Thun Festival, conducted by Julia VINCENT.

Performers: Arianna Savall (Soprano, gothic harp and triple harp) Petter Udland Johansen (Tenor, hardingfele and mandolin), Sveinung Lilleheier (Acoustic guitar and dobro), Miquel Angel Cordero (Double bass)
