The musicians of the Orpheus XXI ensemble reunite after being separated by the pandemic. A concert dedicated to openness and sharing. It was in 2016 that Jordi Savall created Orpheus XXI, an orchestra made up of refugee musicians to allow them to promote their native culture while facilitating their integration in Europe. A strong project, unfortunately put on hold by COVID-19. But because nothing stops music and the joy of coming together indefinitely, Jordi Savall and five instrumentalists from Orpheus XXI were able to come together during the first edition of the Jordi Savall festival, organized in Catalonia.
For this concert, Jordi Savall is surrounded by musicians from three different countries: Georgi Dimitrov (Bulgarian, on qânûn), Mostafa Taleb (Iranian, on kamânche), Ibrahim Keivo (Syrian, on vocals and bouzouki), Maemon Rahal (Syrian, on vocals and percussion), Pedro Estevan (Spanish, on percussion), Waed Bouhassoun (Syrian, on vocals and oud) and Moslem Rahal (Syrian, on vocals and ney). It is to these last two artists that we owe the design of the program for this concert.
