After the unprecedented success of the music for the film "Tous les Matins du Monde" (more than a million copies of the soundtrack sold), and for our further delight, in this filmed concert, Jordi Savall, alone at the viol, plays a selection of pieces from the celebrated film by Alain Corneau.
Recorded at the Abbaye de Fontfroide July, 18, 2012
Performer: Jordi Savall, 7-string bass viol
“The grace and beauty of all of this music, apparently so far removed from our own sensibility, shines through and shows us a surprising world full of emotion and tenderness, fantasy and enchantment, heartbreak and joy, which can become very close to us, thanks to the charms of this profoundly fragile soul, which, as with human beings, is the main characteristic of the viol. (…) Inspiration, expressive strength, evocative sweetness and an understanding of the poetic and dramatic nature of the musical moment turn these “Pièces de Viole”, such as “La Rêveuse” or “Voix Humaines” into masterpieces of chamber music in the best homage a violinist can probably pay to the quest to express the deepest human feelings.”
