Still officially at war, the enemy brothers, North and South Korea, share a unique Christian heritage in the Far East.
Sad coincidence, today's Korea is cut in two, like the holy city. This documentary navigates between past and present by exploring the history of the Korean Church and its thousands of martyrs, including French priests, and the current fight of Catholics so that the flame of the Jerusalem of the Far East continues to nourish the hope of peace and reunification. The freedom in the name of which the martyrs died, beheaded and tortured for having chosen Christ, echoes the quest for freedom of North Koreans in the face of repression.
The film takes stock of the position and role of the Korean Catholic Church in this interminable Cold War, and of the religious situation in North Korea, between prohibition and closely monitored tolerance.
