    MOTHER GENEVIÈVE AND HER SISTERS 52'  - 2025  - Colibri & Ganesha
    Synopsis

“Unusual,” “disconcerting,” even “insolent.” There is no shortage of adjectives to describe the work and personality of Marcelle Gallois, a brilliant young woman with a rebellious spirit who continued to stand out for her talent when she entered the Monastery of Saint Louis du Temple in Paris in 1917, where she became Mother Geneviève.

Woman, artist, nun… obstacles were numerous at the beginning of the 20th century.
A free spirit, she wanted to express her art and live her faith despite the difficulties. She would suffer the consequences and remain largely understudied, rarely exhibited, and scarcely recognized.

Through the perspective of three women, Mother Geneviève returns to us in this documentary, which explores the singular journey and the vast body of work of this mystic, discovered by Modigliani’s patron.
