This 2-part documentary traces Rameau’s life: his struggles, his successes and the originality of his style and writing, which made him one of the greatest composers in the history of French music.

Through extracts from a performance of one of his major works, “les surprises de l’amour ”, and interviews with Sébastien d’Hérin, conductor and Rameau specialist and Eric Desnoues, conductor and director of the Baroque Music Festival in Lyon, we reveal the principals and particularities of Rameau’s compositions.
