    New Circus 52'  - 2017  - Program33
    Synopsis

They defy the laws of physics, pushing the boundaries of balance, movement and gravity. Eight new circus performers reveal their resolutely modern but timeless art.

Outside the circus ring, eight circus artists invite us to discover their world. Every day, they reinvent their art. This documentary interweaves portraits of these artists who, united by their unwavering physical commitment, elevate their disciplines into extraordinary performances.

Their performances take place outside the big tops and theatres, in city centres and in the heart of nature, in unusual settings that highlight the originality of each approach.

Without tricks or special effects, new circus questions the deeper meaning of life and the world around us. And, because it has the peculiarity of passing first and foremost through the body, giving a voice to the artists who are its silent protagonists allows us to get a better understanding of their art.

Portraits of 8 new circus artists:

Yoann Bourgeois, Sanja Kosonen, Alexandre Fray, Chloé Moglia, Jörg Muller, Camille Boitel, Tatiana-Mosio Bongonga and Johann Le Guillerm.

Prize for the best cultural documentary in 2018, awarded by Les Lauriers de la Télévision.

Selected for the Festival du Cinéma D’Ale, the Spring Festival and the Tansfilmnacht Festival
