Benjamin Millepied combines dance, cinema and theatre and offers us a contemporary and original take on a mythical tale, further enhanced by Prokofiev’s music.
The protagonists are young adults in a contemporary urban environment, confronted with regressive and oppressive social norms that make their union impossible. On stage, the story of the star-crossed lovers unfolds thanks to a unique projection system. Certain scenes are projected live from unexpected places in the theatre or backstage and transport the dancers from the stage to the screen.
