    GENERATION SEXT 52'  - 2021  - MAGELLAIR Productions
    Synopsis

Never has sex seemed so present, within sight and within reach, in a hyper-sexualised society. The Internet, apps, dating sites... the product is freely available, and over-consumed with great ease and joy, especially, we’re led to believe, by young people. But the reality is very different! To understand this Generation Sext - symbols of a sexuality disrupted by digital tools - this documentary gives the floor to today's young teenagers. Extremely free speech from a generation that’s profoundly reinventing the relationship with intimacy.

Porn has become the first access to sexuality. Many people define themselves as “pansexual”, being attracted to an individual regardless of their gender. Anal sex has gone from being the ultimate taboo to “fifth base”. And some are happy with their “asexuality”, having no relationships. Because, at a time when our culture is more tolerant to sex than ever, the figures are actually pointing towards a shyness, naivety and exploration that’s often similar to that of older generations: the average age at first intercourse has remained stable. The number of abortions has not changed either. On the other hand, the mass of information to which everyone has access has completely changed the game over the past two decades. As a result, Generation Sext is reshuffling the cards and asking a lot of questions.

The influence of porn, free access to information, the contribution made by sex influencers, gender activism, the priority of consent and even the relationship with the first sexual experience… this documentary gives the floor to 15-25 year olds, to uncover the reality of this generation’s sexual behaviour. One that has come after 50 years of sexual liberation, but also the arrival of AIDS, almost free access to porn, and a permanent sexualisation of society, to which is added a new liberation of women, led by the #MeToo movement.

So many momentous changes, that have led us to question today's sexuality, and the reality of this generation of millennials, whose behaviour is by no means as predictable as we think. Because despite the relaxation of taboos and the rise of apps, young people are also, discreetly, carrying out a real sexual revolution of their own.
