Shakura S’Aida is a Canadian singer-songwriter of Swiss origin, active on the international blues and soul scene. She began her career in musical theatre before turning to the blues, where she developed a distinctive songwriting style shaped by soul and rhythm and blues. Based in Toronto, she has released several albums and performs regularly throughout Europe and North America.

Her repertoire combines original compositions with the rich legacy of African American music, delivered through a direct, expressive, and deeply engaging stage presence.

In 2010, Shakura S’Aida received the Maple Blues Award for Female Vocalist of the Year and earned numerous nominations for the same honour between 2004 and 2017. She has also been nominated for the Juno Awards in the Blues and Roots categories. Her nomination for the Blues Music Awards in the United States further reflects her recognition on the international blues scene.
