                Synopsis

With his quartet, the saxophonist and composer Sylvain Rifflet is the architect of innovative and captivating music, where modern jazz juggles with swirls of New York minimalism.
The music for his latest Mechanics album is influenced by Steve Reich, Moondog, Philip Glass and Terry Riley. He also draws on the hybrid sound of his companions in his unique instrumentation: Benjamin Flament’s percussion mixed with the kalimba and Joce Mienniel’s flute supported by Philippe Gordiani’s electric guitar.
Atmospheres that are sometimes dreamlike and disconcerting, sometimes rock and chiselled. Unique sound illusions upon which the saxophonist and clarinetist puts his personal stamp.
