The Sagrada Família: More than just a building. It’s the key to understanding Gaudí’s vision—and a masterpiece finally taking shape.

On June 10, 1926, architect Antoni Gaudí died from injuries sustained a few days earlier after being struck by a tram in Barcelona. The legacy he left to his assistants was a worksite still in progress—and no small one at that: the Sagrada Família.
Although Barcelona’s most enigmatic architect had devoted 43 years of his life to it and had built a crypt, an apse, and a façade, the project was far from complete. His plans, plaster models, and written notes were meant to guide his successors in continuing this great work... But in the early days of the Spanish Civil War, in 1936, all of Gaudí’s workshop materials were destroyed in a fire.

How, a century after his death—despite wars, financial struggles, and repeated controversies among intellectuals, urbanists, and art critics—is the Basilica of the Sagrada Família on the verge of completion?

This film delves into 144 years of a fantastical construction, driven not only by Gaudí but, more importantly, by his successors, who bore the immense responsibility of building almost the entire structure.
With the help of today’s builders, as well as testimonies from Gaudí’s former assistants—including audio recordings of architect Isidre Puig Boada—we trace this long, puzzle-like journey whose final destination is an astonishing work of art.
    But perhaps it’s something more...
The Sagrada Família as the one true path to reconnect with the free spirit and boundless vision of Antoni Gaudí.
