The monastery of St Clare in Jerusalem has withstood both time and conflict for more than 120 years. Despite the wars that have torn the Holy Land apart throughout its history, the nuns of the order of St Clare have worked continuously for peace and unity through inter-religious dialogue.
Today, the convent is once more threatened by an invisible but formidible danger… the ageing of its residents combined with a vocation crisis.
What will become of the nuns if the convent has to close? Despite this threat, the Poor Clares are tirelessly pursuing their mission of prayer. Unfailingly attached to Jerusalem, they remain hopeful, awaiting a divine sign.
The imminent arrival of a group of Italian nuns will give the community an injection of fresh blood and ensure its continuing presence in the Holy Land.
