The Duo Mélisande, composed of two young and brilliant guitar players, Toulouse-based Sébastien Llinares and Nicolas Lestoquoy from Lille, present an enthralling and original version of the famous Goldberg Variations, a masterpiece by J-S. Bach, transcribed for two guitars.
The second half of the show is dedicated to Joachim Turina (5 Gypsy Dances) and Isaac Albéniz (Tango and Mallorca). Spanish music, made of "dreams and rhythms" (Debussy), is one of the few musical movements that has inspired as many fantasies in the public imagination as passionate debates among artists.
After many years in which is was forgotten or marginalised, and thanks to a new generation of modern and highly gifted musicians, the six-stringed instrument returns to the front of the stage. Sébastien and Nicolas are helping to restore its nobility.
